You all know I’m getting geeked up for Super Duper Typhoon Tuesday. Last night’s primary in Florida was a nail biter! The race between McCain and Romney was neck and neck for most of the night. I’m sure that you have all heard by now as you wake up this morning that McCain pulled ahead and won the state. More interesting than the race on the Right was the unofficial race on the Left! Take a gander at these numbers I stole from MSNBC. Even though Florida was stripped of it’s delegates and none of the Democrats stumped in Forida I think the numbers speak volumes when you compare them with the Republicans.

Candidate Votes % of votes Delegates won
Hillary Clinton 856,944 50% 0
Barack Obama 568,930 33% 0
John Edwards 248,575 14% 0
Dennis Kucinich 9,535 1% 0
Candidate Votes % of votes Delegates won
John McCain 693,425 36% 57
Mitt Romney 598,152 31% 0
Rudy Giuliani 281,755 15% 0
Mike Huckabee 259,703 13% 0
Ron Paul 62,060 3% 0
Fred Thompson 22,287 1% 0
Duncan Hunter 2,787 0% 0

This is some bullshit!  We’ve been robbed!!  Hillary won New Hampshire??  I want a recount!  I want restitution!!!
How could the polls have it so wrong on the Democratic side?  The pundits and analysts are falling all over themselves for an explanation.  One basically said because she cried she got the votes.  So she did that thing women often do when they get pulled over for a ticket?  Am I to believe people from NH are that gullible?? Another even mentioned the ‘unmentionable’ Brady effect.  That’s the latent racism effect.  Whatever the reason may be it just proves one thing.  It’s going to be a L O N G  year.

One item of note.  Did anyone notice the actual numbers of voters when you compare top three Democrats vs. Top three Republicans?  VERY interesting…

Yes, it has been a while but after last night’s victory by Barack Obama I had to say something. As you all know, I have been an Obama man from day one. I cried the day Bush won the 2004 election and was elated when I found out Obama took the Illinois Senate seat. It was my silver lining in a very dark cloud. And now the Iowa caucuses. What an amazing turn of events. Over twice the number of projected people came out to caucus on a crappy ass night. I am very happy that Barack took Iowa (with a 9% lead over Edwards!) but what I am most happy about is the actual turnout and what that means. I think it says that people are finally waking up out of their 7 year cicada like sleep and realizing the world is quite a different place.

The power of the vote is an amazing thing and rural Americans proved that inevitability and the established path are the exact reasons we all need to be part of the political process. I could go on and on with an inspiring victory speech like Mr. Obama did last night but let’s just say this, a state that has fewer than 5%(?) African-Americans put their support behind an African-American for their Democratic nominee. Now that speaks volumes!! After all that has been going on in the country over the past 7 years, I woke up just a little prouder to be an American this morning.
