French Strikes: A Stupid American’s Take November 20, 2007

I was listening to the radio this morning and it sounded to me like France is having an impromptu vacation today. So 1/2 the country is on strike! What’s with this going on strike for one day crap? If you are going to strike then strike until you receive justice or your union runs out of cash! And no public transportation because those lazy French don’t want to work a couple more years for their pension? Sounds like Mr. Sarkozy is bringing out the best in people over there. I’m planning on working until I’m about 80, die then meet my maker. God knows there is no retirement to speak of here. It’s either that or start stocking up on canned dog food for my “retirement” (I don’t have a dog).
Meanwhile, we are on the verge of cultural collapse over here. The writer’s strike in LA and the stage hand strike in NYC is crippling this country!! Basically I get no Daily Show or Letterman and forget about seeing Wicked!!! The rumor is the networks are going to start producing more bad reality shows. It’s like Armageddon over here!!
yeah right 1/2 of the country on strike? don’t think so. It seems like only 500,000 people are concerned with the changes Sarkozy wants to do, and we are 18 millions workers over here ! what the heck is going on !
Now I have to agree with you 1/2 of the country is blocked because of these fuckers that don’t want to let go their so called special treatment that allow them to retire earlier and with a higher retirement pay.
then a lot of people are joining the strike (like students, what are they thinking !) but I can tell you that from seeing how angry people are because they either have to walk or drive 0.5 miles an hour to go to work, we are only a few days away from that big demonstration of private workers so the strike end !
anyway, it’s times like this when you have to hate living in France and that makes me want to move out of here but where else than here will I get my saucisson and cheese damned !
