Change For A Nickel

As you all know, I’m a big fan of Tammy Faye Messner.  Tammy has been living with cancer for a few years now and is currently not doing very well.  Tammy Faye with her then husband Jim Bakker built a very popular television ministry back in the 80s which included a show titled The PTL Club and a theme park called Heritage USA.  Corruption and mismanagement led to the downfall of the popular ministry.  Jerry Falwell stepped in to manage the ministry during the investigations and eventually took it over.  He also began a campaign of vilification against the Bakkers.  Tammy was devastated!

She has stated several times that she was quite angry with Falwell for what he did.  Who wouldn’t be?!  You are already on the ropes and this guy comes in and says he is going to help you and ends up stabbing you in the back! 

Now Jerry is dead.  What does my beloved Tammy have to say about him now?  Last night Larry King did an interview with Tammy and asked her about Jerry’s death and her feelings about it.  In true Tammy fashion she expressed her shock and sadness that he had passed.  She even stated she tried several times to bring closure to the rift that was between them.  She had forgiven him.  She said it saddened her that the rift between them had not been healed prior to his death.  Tammy is a true believer but more importantly she has tried to follow Jesus teachings of forgiveness and acceptance.  I can not say the same for Jerry Falwell.  But Tammy, if you can forgive him for what he did then I think we should all follow your example and try to do the same.
