Currently in Oakland, CA staying in a Quality (free) Inn near the airport for work. Because nothing says class like a mediocre hotel chain near the Oakland airport. Fine dining abounds. Let’s see, there’s a Denny’s, a Burger King, a Jack in the Box (aka Jack in the Crack) and some crappy looking Chinese restaurant about a block from the hotel. My boss and I just drove a couple of miles down the freeway and the only thing we could find was a KFC/A&W, another Denny’s and some Mexican chain fast food restaurant. We ended up eating at the Mexican restaurant. Thank God I stopped at the (ghetto) grocery store which is also down the street and picked up some beer! It’s nice to see the beer and wine section was being guarded by a dedicated security guard. I can’t wait to see what the continenntal breakfast holds for me tomorrow. I’m sure it will be lavish!!

Pauly, the Parisians who read you religiously are going to remind you to count your blessings. What we wouldn’t do for some fine Denny’s dining - nothing like a real American breakfast! Or what about some good old Jack In the Crack? Can’t get there over here in the third world! A chicken sandwich at Burger King would put me right into Heaven right now, and Mexican food from a hole in the wall - well, just take me now, Lord! Add beer to it all, and you have some good old fashioned American fixins. If only Reyna and I could be at the Quality-Free Inn right now, we’d be in Pig Heaven!
Bon appetit!

OK, Jim. Like your description of the Quality Inn better than mine so I stole it! Oh, and I was just in Paris and there were some chunky Frenchies over there. I know they got MickyDees! Sure they have Burger King and they are probably hiding the Denny’s out in the Burbs. They are getting fat on something!

This so so funny. Just when you think you are the only one who has spent that night at a crappy hotel in the middle of nowhere….. You are better than I am. I would have ordered room service instead of driving around. Jack in the Crack! tee hee.
